Normally I take the day off to stay home, but I didn’t feel like working at all today. Zero motivation. Zero productivity.
All I plan on doing today is drinking beer and playing video games. Probably gonna grab a poutine later as well.
Hope you Oppos have a nice Friday.

That sounds great.
T hey tell you that having kids is the best feeling in the world and while it’s mostly true and VERY rewarding at times, it’s a super bummer when you want to play hooky but can’t because...adult responsibilities .

True... my friend who has 3 kids and is working from home said that it’s still very draining since now he’s working and looking after kids simultaneously rather than doing one or the other.

Woke up to proctor an exam while drinking my morning coffee. That kind of jump started me. Let’s see how I feel after my post-shower nap.

Is this some kind of remote exam or all people all gathered to write this? I would’ve figured that this kind of stuff would’ve been postponed.

It’s an interesting story. We give our tests using ExamSoft, which downloads the test to a personal device, tablet or laptop, and then opens in the proctored test when we give the password. Afterward, they upload the test to the server. While testing, the device is taken over by the program so no other apps can run.
Last week, when we were limited to 10 person gatherings, I tried to schedule my test with three large rooms for 10 a piece and social distancing. For those that couldn’t come in or were high-risk, I came up with this idea that they could take their test on one device from home if they had another device that they could Zoom conference with so I could see them throughout the test, kind of like a remote proctoring solution.
Well, when the lockdown hit, I figured that went out the window, but the school decided my idea was scalable. So now, we are testing by ExamSoft and Zoom. For this morning’s D1 Microbiology exam, we had 5 groups in individual Zoom sessions for the total 106 student class with protocols in place to verify that they couldn’t cheat (spoiler alert: some will still find a way to cheat because they always do).
I originally wanted to just defer all testing until it could be done normally in person, pushing it out to the summer if necessary. But, the horse is out of the barn, so this is the new normal for the time being.

Can confirm. I’m working from home now, and Mrs. BaconSandwich wanted to do some grocery shopping this morning. I was watching my 5, 3, and 1 year old for a f ew hours. It was... draining. Right as I was logging in to a webinar, little miss 1 year old decided to grab a bowl of cereal and milk that was sitting on the table from breakfast. It made a pretty big mess.
